Beru Kids might just be the fastest "slow fashion" brand on the market. Produced entirely in downtown Los Angeles, Beru repurposes deadstock, or surplus, materials from other brands (that would otherwise be thrown away) into original styles for kids that let them be little. With an acutely close connection to its sustainable supply chain, Beru's founder, Sofia Melograno, and designer, Kimberly Hiers, can really bring creativity back into clothing design. They dye fabrics into desired colours or graphically design patterns to be printed directly on the materials. With a turnaround time of about two weeks, Beru can first get a feel for consumers' demand, before producing any product, and doing so without cutting any corners. Beru is committed to a no waste fashion industry, and giving back to the community in DTLA by supporting organizations that bolster the wellbeing of children.
